Skills Training
When Groundcover News Vendors sell the newspaper, they are not only earning an income but also developing entrepreneurial skills. This includes financial management, public speaking/communication, customer service, self-organization, time management, risk-assessment, and resilience. In a matter of days of selling the newspaper, we observe tangible differences in Groundcover Vendors. These changes are inspired by the empowerment borne from economic autonomy.
Groundcover News provides opportunities to our Vendors to build skills that enhance their professional and personal identities with biweekly workshops on topics such as financial literacy, news-writing, and storytelling. Groundcover recognizes that we must approach solutions to poverty using methods and models that go beyond simple economic support and support the capacity and skills development of our vendors.
