Vendor Program
The Groundcover News vendor program is the core of our work. Anyone that identifies as experiencing homelessness or poverty is able to sign up to be a Groundcover vendor.
During New Vendor Orientation (which occur twice each week or by appointment), new Groundcover Vendors learn about street newspapers, agree to a code of conduct that is informed by the stipulations of our charitable solicitation license (issued by municipalities in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Ypsilanti Township and Pittsfield Township) and the cultural norms of the organization, and undergo sales training. On their first day, Vendors receive a badge and 10 free newspapers and are therefore able to start working immediately to generate their own income.
